Technology platform

NLC technology for challenging lipophilic actives

01. Our technology

NLC encapsulation for ingredients that don't mix with water.

BioGntx's Nanostructured Lipid Carrier (NLC) platform supports R&D-scale prototype development for selected lipophilic and hydrophobic active ingredients. Through payload-specific development, we evaluate characteristics such as aqueous dispersion, physical stability, particle characteristics and compatibility with the intended product format.

From difficult ingredients to better-performing products: difficult active ingredient, encapsulated NLC prototype, better formulation performance, with benefits in dispersion, protection, stability and usability

The result is a testable R&D prototype that can help clients assess dispersion, stability, protection, and product-format compatibility.

02. Why it matters

What can be evaluated?

  1. 01

    Water compatibility

How does the active behave in an aqueous formulation environment?

  2. 02

    Physical stability

What happens to the prototype under relevant development and storage conditions?

  3. 03

    Particle characteristics

What particle characteristics are achieved for the specific formulation?

  4. 04

    Product-format compatibility

Can the prototype be incorporated into the intended product format?

Together, these measurements help determine whether a prototype merits further development before moving towards scale-up, technology transfer or licensing.
